2009 Diamond Dress – World’s Most Expensive Dress

At $30 million, this is by far the most expensive piece of clothing. This silk and taffeta evening gown is called the “Nightingale of Kuala Lumpur”. This diamond-studded dress was the highlight of the Mercedes-Benz STYLO Fashion Awards 2009.

Designed by Faisol Abdullah from Malaysia. This diamond dress was created by batik fashion house Jendela KL, in collaboration with well-known jeweller, Mouawad — who decorated the dress with 751 diamonds.

The dress is a combination of Tafetta, raw silk, satin silk, satin net and chiffon. It is adorned with 750 pieces of diamonds weighing over 1,000 carats and held together by a 70-carat pear-shaped diamond from jeweller Mouawad. The dress is also paired with a six-metre-long train that is decorated with diamonds and Swarovski cystals.

The dazzling masterpiece was put on sale with part of the proceeds donated to the Gaza Fund under the STYLO corporate social responsibility initiative.

Modeled by the actress Kavita Sidhu, she ramped the ‘Nightingale of Kuala Lumpur’ at the STYLO Fashion Grand Prix KL at the Kuala Lumpur Lake Gardens. Faisol received an award for Fashion Innovator of the year at the night of the event.
